A chick and her egg?

Easter is nearly upon us and though people don't generally go all out on decorating, there are the few who come up with cute items. This chick and an enormous egg belie the Easter bunny myth - or not.

Clearly this is a reference to the Easter bunny considering the number of carrots involved, though why they are in a tree is puzzling, since bunnies can't fly. But we'll take it as a symbol and not a literal bunny lure.

The basket below, with Easter eggs about, may be a lure for unsuspecting children. We like to think they are prizes, however, and are waiting to be scooped up on the neighborhood Easter egg hunt. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Easter means one thing. OK - two things...

Easter means one thing for me and that is, how many Cadbury Creme Eggs can I get away with. Alas, the cost has skyrocketed since the good old days of two for 50¢, or a box of 4 for 75¢. Now a box of 4 is $6.50. The nerve of some places! Well, I found the secret to cashing in big time -- Grocery Outlet, where they sell a huge egg filled with 16 of the sinful treats for next to nothing. And I scored - twice! And to those of you who do not enjoy the pleasures of the creamy eggs I say, BAH HUMBUG!

Now my fixation on sugary delights does not keep me from enjoying colorful yard displays. I don't know when it became standard to go all out with Easter decorations, but this yard certainly has it down. Enjoy.

More evidence Spring has sprung

More to appreciate around this time of year. Though we have had little to no rain, blossoms don't seem to know that. Which is just as well since we need all the colorful cheer we can get right now. And as if that weren't enough, I found some really wonderful, albeit over-the-top, Easter decorations in front of a house and couldn't resist. Enjoy!
